Our Legacy
Popoy’s Batchoy, formerly known as Popoy’s Original Lapaz Batchoy, is a family-owned restaurant
and a source of pride in Iloilo. A must-try for locals and tourists, it made history as the first to be awarded
“The Best Batchoy” during the Iloilo Batchoy Festival in 2020.
For over 45 years, it has delighted Ilonggos with its rich flavors and the enduring legacy of its founder, Popoy.
Our Story
Named after its founder, Popoy, the restaurant started in 1978 at the University of Iloilo and later moved to
Iloilo Central Market in 1981. Popoy’s dedication to quality and flavor earned it a place in the hearts of locals
and tourists alike.
The Batchoy Experience
Each bowl of batchoy features fresh noodles, savory broth, tender meat, and crispy chicharon, creating a distinct
and memorable taste. Other offerings include batchoy bihon and miswa, served in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Milestones
In 2020, Popoy’s Batchoy was crowned “The Best Batchoy” during the Iloilo Batchoy Festival. The recognition
sparked its growth, leading to new branches in Robinsons Place and SM City Iloilo, along with delivery services
via Foodpanda and GrabFood.
Today
Popoy’s Batchoy remains a symbol of Ilonggo heritage, offering authentic flavors and a timeless dining experience
to customers from all walks of life.
